Antony and Cleopatra (1972)

Whether you’ve seen his name spelled as Mark Antony or Marc Antony, ancient babe Marcus Antonius is well known today thanks to onscreen depictions of him by Raymond Burr in Serpent of the Nile (1953), Richard Burton in Cleopatra (1963), Keith Michell in Julius Caesar (1979), Billy Zane in Cleopatra (1999), Bruno Garcia in Cleópatra (2006), and James Purefoy in Rome (2005-2007). Of course, we’d be remiss not to include Charlton Heston in the skinternational flick Antony and Cleopatra (1972). Not to be confused with George Bernard Shaw’s Caesar and Cleopatra (1945), this pic is based on the William Shakespeare tragedy about the Roman solider’s fateful love for the Queen of Egypt (Hildegarde Neil). As he previously proved in The Ten Commandments (1956), Ben-Hur (1959) and Planet of the Apes (1968), Chuck can rock a loincloth. As such, this saga showcases his fit physique. Under his own direction, Mr. Heston’s film is equal parts brains and brawn as he struts his stuff in the near buff, spouting poetic lines to Lepidus (Fernando Rey), Menas (Peter Arne), Octavia (Carmen Sevilla), Octavius Caesar (John Castle), Pompey (Freddie Jones), and Agrippa (Douglas Wilmer). Speaking of, you’ll want to agrippa your crotch when you see Charlton’s hairy chest, muscular arms, shapely legs, and firm buns once he rips off his robe to reveal the skimpiest of Roman undies. He’s so hot, it’s no wonder Mr. Man was fiddling with himself while Rome burned. After watching this pic, you could say, “I saw, I came, he conquered!”
