South Korean indie director Kogonada once ventured to Columbus (2017), Indiana on vacation and became obsessed with the idea of filming a movie there, because of the town's strange architecture. In 2017, he finally made that happen when he cast John Cho as Jin-Lee, a Korean American who works translating Korean literature to English. Jin-Lee's father (Joseph Anthony Foronda) has headed to Columbus, Indiana to give a speech about architecture, but when tragedy strikes and he ends up in a coma, Jin-Lee flies as fast as he can to the flyover state to be with his ailing father. There, he meets a woman named Casey (Haley Lu Richardson) who works at the local library while living with her former drug addict mom that's she's obsessed with keeping off drugs. But, like everyone in this movie, for some reason Casey has always dreamt of being an architect. To make that happen, she'd have to leave her mom, though. Meanwhile, Jin-Lee resents how obsessed with his job his father was, since it led to him being ignored so often. The pair bond, despite a giant age gap between them, with Jin-Lee trying to convince her to abandon her mother and chase her own dreams. That's pretty much all that happens. But before you say that sounds kind of boring, you should know that at one point we get an amazing look at the asschitecture of John Cho. At one point, John is taking a shower and thinking about his life. His back is to the camera, which gives us a great look at John's buns as they get soaked in water. Even if you're into action movies or horror, you'll be excited to discover John's butt in Columbus!
