Emancipation (2022)

Will Smith's first stab at a comeback following his attack on Chris Rock at the 2022 Academy Awards is the critical bomb Emancipation. This one put Apple TV+ out of about $120 million bucks - money they aren't likely to get back. No matter! Smith plays a slave named Peter who must make the perilous journey across the Deep South after escaping the torturous plantation where he received brutal beatings. Smith doesn't emancipate himself from his clothes in this Oscar grab, but he does go shirtless while getting his picture taken, and that's A-okay with us! Smith is a dad in real life and he's definitely serving daddy in Emancipation. After this little tease we simply can't wait to see what else Will Smith brings in phase three of his career.
