Review

There’s no escaping the past in the thriller On the Inside (2011). When Allen Meneric (Nick Stahl) is sent to a psychiatric institution to be evaluated after he murders his gal pal’s alleged rapist, he finds himself locked in a frightening world, surrounded by a plethora of psychopaths, slightly off-kilter dudes, heartless doctors, and vengeful guards. The only bright spot comes in the form of Ben (Pruitt Taylor Vince), a likeable inmate that befriends Allen. It’s always great to have friends in lock up, but Ben has some nutso bouts that kill his likeability. On the other end of the spectrum, there’s Carl (Dash Mihok), an emotional scarred dude that gets off on terrorizing people. When Carl sets his crazy eyes on Allen, the two begin to butt heads. With good behavior, Allen gets transferred to a minimum security section of the psych prison where low risk inmates of both sexes are allowed to interact. It’s here where Allen meets and falls in love with Mia (Olivia Wilde), a very beautiful yet very bipolar gal. As the two share a private encounter together, set up by the well-intentioned staff member Mrs. Standing (Joanne Baron), Carl rears his ugly head to kill their time with his violent behavior. Dash Mihok heats up the flick by baring his butt while taking a shower. The sexiness is killed (or amplified) when Dash pulls a sharpened toothbrush from his ass. Color Mr. Man impressed!
