Has life on the apps got you down? Are the constant casual hookups of Grindr becoming a grind? Well, in 2019 the French had a series for you! Netflix'sOsmosis (2019) is a French science fiction series that takes place in a futuristic Paris where a dating app called "Osmosis" matches single people by mining their brain for data that determines which other person is their true love. Paul (Hugo Becker) and Esther (Agathe Bonitzer) are the brother-sister duo who created both the app and the nanobots that go into the brain to mine the data. Paul's all about the money, while Esther thinks she can use the nanobots to bring back her comatose mother and only created the dating app can get them that cash. But while testing the tech, it becomes clear many people are more interested in what secrets they can pull out of people's heads than who should be sleeping next to them in bed. Often compared to a couple different episodes of Black Mirror, the show never saw a season two, but it made sure we saw plenty of men Mr. Man would swipe right on! On top of sensational shirtlessness from foxy Frenchman like Gael Kamilindi and Lionel Lingelser, there's a great scene of Stephane Pitti and Lionel Lingelser having sex in a stairwell, although they keep their clothes on.
