Unbelievable (2019)

Brief Nudity

Review

It's pretty rare that a television show actually shatters your faith in humanity, the justice system, and America itself all in one fell swoop but, unbelievably, Netflix's 2019 miniseries Unbelievable does just that. Based on a true story that was profiled in the Pulitzer Prize winning Publica article "An Unbelievable Story of Rape" as well as the This American Life episode "Anatomy of Doubt," Toni Collette stars as Westminster, Colorado detective Grace Rasmussen. Grace is a take no crap tough cop who is investigating some sexual assaults in Westminster, Colorado. Eventually she runs into Detective Karen Duvall (Merritt Wever), a softer, openly religious cop investigating some unsolved sexual assaults in Golden, Colorado. But both of their lives will change forever when they meet Marie Adler (Kaitlyn Decker), a woman who was raped in her home, went to the cops, and ended up being charged with filing a false report after the male cops bully her into having a full-blown breakdown and she says she made the whole thing up. Of course, it'll end up that she was actually the victim of a serial rapist who was in charge of all sorts of rapes throughout the Pacific Northwest for a solid three years, thanks to a bunch of dopey dudes being in charge of the investigation. Eventually, the two female cops will crack the case, and at the very least, we hope all sorts of lessons will be learned along the way. Okay, so we acknowledge the true story of a victim that reveals why so many rape victims never go to the cops isn't the kind of stuff that gets you in the mood. Well, unless there's a look at one super-hot dude. Yes, Blake Ellis gets arrested and while he may be a bad guy, we love watching this bad boy strip in prison. He gets fully naked to show his dick, balls, and buns. You better believe this scene is still Unbelievably sexy!
