Maniac (2018)

How many A-listers can Netflix cram into one miniseries? Well, in the case of Maniac (2018), the answer is a lot! Not to be confused with the same-named thriller Maniac (2013) featuring Elijah Wood, this 10-part dramedy stars 2-time Oscar winners Emma Stone and Sally Field. The high-profile cast also includes Hank Azaria, Gabriel Byrne, Jemima Kirke, Jonah Hill, Julia Garner, Justin Theroux, and Trudie Styler. If that’s not impressive enough, the small screen series received nominations from many of the Guilds as well as from the Golden Reel and the Satellite Awards. Of course, Mr. Theroux earned a statuette in Mr. Man’s pants when he flashed his flesh. As Dr. James K. Mantleray, his scientific work on a Neberdine Pharmaceutical Biotech experiment could help people like Annie Landsberg (Stone) with borderline personality disorders. Perhaps that’s why Dr. Azumi Fujita (Sonoya Mizuno) is feeling the heat to deliver some results. Speaking of heat, Justine sizzles on the boob tube when he loses his top. In episode 3, the shirtless hunk soaks his toned torso in a steamy stream thanks to a virtual reality scene. His animated self even gets it on with a cartoon woman. That is, until he is interrupted and returns to the real world. As such, we get to see the skintastic actor’s chest again. If that’s not titillating enough, Justin is wearing skimpy skivvies. Sure, we wish we could see more. But apparently a show rated TV-MA means we don’t get any PBJ — Pubes, Butt and Junk!
