Was there ever a more "swinging" time in history than 1964 in California? Probably not!  This beach party romp throws us right off our wave onto the coastal campus of Oceancrest College where college girl Sandy (Pamela Tiffin) and her pals spend their days twisting in bikinis on the beach and hanging out at the local hot spots at night.  The "big man on campus" is the handsome surfer boy Gardner "Ding" Pruitt III (James Darren), who can seemingly get any girl he wants except for Sandy that is, who wants nothing to do with him!  That's not because she isn't attracted to him and his fuzzy toned chest, cool car, and mountains of inherited wealth.  She hates him because his conservative grandpa is trying to shut down the coolest club on the beach, The Silver Palms!  Sandy's uncle Woody (Woody Woodbury) has been a mainstay on the stage there for decades and she doesn't want her dear old uncle to be out of work AND lose the coolest hang spot in all of SoCal!  So as Sandy rebukes Ding's offers to come over to his apartment to "hang out", Ding and his best buddy, Kelp (THE Bob Denver) devise a plan to put the moves on her and help out her uncle's chances of keeping the club swinging.  This is just about as star-studded of a beach bonanza as you can imagine with the original "Moondoggy" James Darren singing songs and twisting, Bob Denver as the dopey sidekick, and Tina Louise, Nancy Sinatra, a shockingly young Ellen Burstyn, and Pamela Tiffin rounding out a cast with the comedic Paul Lynde cracking wise well before his Hollywood Square days!
